ARE YOU NEW IN THE CITY?

From Valencia On Line, we want to guarrantee you a safe journey and the best of the stays. That's why, we  want to give you some suggestions in case this is your first visit to Valencia.

- When to come?
Spring is probably the most beautiful time of the year to travel to the Mediterranean, because it's when the fields are in full bloom and though the weather is warm, it is far from being oppressive.
You must take into account that during "Semana Santa" or "Fallas", and above all in summer, acommodation availability in some areas may be scanty. If your plan is to put up at a hotel or motel room, it is advisable to book it as soon as possible, given that most of them are at 100% of their possibilities in these time of the year. Something similar happens with the restaurants, you must take into account that the city doubles its population in some moments (as in "Fallas", for instance)

- Security.
We are deeply concerned about your security, and though Valencia is quite a safe city, that doesn't mean you can be showing off your money with no risk of being mugged. Don't leave anything inside yur car and don't forget to always put your wallet in a safe place. The crowds attract pickpocketers, who find their victims among the entranced visitors admiring any monument or event. If you lose your wallet or have any problem, you must contact the Local Police as soon as possible.

- Tips.
If your intention is to thank any service or stay, you must know that tips aren't common. Nobody will feel offended if you don't leave a tip, though visitors usually leave around 5% or 8% of the bill, never above 3 euros, in places such as restaurants, bars cafes or even taxis.

-"Fallas"
If you visit Valencia in "Fallas" and you are coming by car, forget the idea of using it in the centre of the city. Park it where there isn't  a Fire Warning. In most of the neighbourhoods it is typical to organize fireworks known as "mascletà", being the biggest and most interesting those that take place in the City Hall Square. If you want to see a "falla" burning up, choose the one you have liked most, never get too close to them (there  is the  risk of burns), and watch the work of the firemen. In "Fallas" it is almost obligatory to walk everywhere. With that purpose, the City Hall offers all visitors a useful street map with indications about the most interesting places for sightseeing.

-Football.
In days when there's a football match, supporters meet around Blasco Ibáñez and Aragón Avenues, near the Mestalla Football Field, to enjoy the match. If you are going to drive here, take into account the possibility of traffic jams.
